Atrial Fibrillation (AF) affects 1-2% of New Zealanders making it the most common heart rhythm disorder in the country. It is a disorganised irregular heart rhythm causing life altering symptoms. A person with atrial fibrillation has a five times higher risk of a stroke. There are also many people unaware they have AF because they show no symptoms.
During Atrial Fibrillation Week 18-24 September the Cardiology team at Waikato DHB are offering FREE pulse checks using the latest technology on Thursday 21 September 10am – 2pm Level 1, Meade Clinical Centre.
