Health warriors take weekend fight to heart disease

A group of medical experts are giving up their weekends to join the war on heart disease.

Waikato Heart surgeons Adam El-Gamel and Grant Parkinson are part of a newly formed group of volunteers taking heart scans out of the clinics and into the community.

And with Maori and Pacific Island patients making up  half of the 700 surgeries per year in the region, the group is targeting festivals like the recent Koroneihana celebrations at Ngaruawahia.
