King: Waikato medical school proposal ‘absolutely massive’

A proposed medical school could be the biggest public-sector development in Hamilton since the creation of Waikato University, the city’s mayor says.

Andrew King attended a black-tie function at Waikato University on Tuesday, where philanthropist Sir Owen Glenn pledged $5 million toward the creation of a medical school in Waikato.Sir Owen said a new medical school and a new model of medical education is desperately needed to help fix the country’s GP shortage.
