Wintec student overcomes adversity to win top exercise award

Shane Way won Student of the Year at the 2016 New Zealand Exercise Industry Awards in Auckland.

It was a stay in a mental health facility that changed Shane Way’s life.

In 2012, after a particularly tough battle with depression and anxiety, Way attempted to take his own life. As a result, he was admitted to the Henry Rongomau Bennett Centre for a month.
